The following star parties have been scheduled for Spring 2023:
April 29: National Astronomy Day-Spring. Visible will be the Moon, Mars, and Venus. Star parties start after sunset.
May 27: Visible will be the Moon, Mars, Venus, along with numerous double stars, galaxies, and nebula.
The following star parties have been scheduled for Fall 2023:
September 23: National Astronomy Day-Fall. Visible will be the Moon and Saturn. Star parties start after sunset.
October 14: Solar Eclipse Daytime Star Party at the LSU Shreveport Science Building. More information later.
November 4: Visible will be the Moon, Saturn, and Jupiter, aling with numerous double stars, galaxies, and nebula.
The Shreveport Observatory is located about 8 miles south of the LSU-Shreveport campus, off Hwy. 1. Go south on Hwy. 1, turn onto Hwy. 175 and go about 1.7 miles. Turn onto Astronomical Observatory Rd. and go about 100 yards to the observatory.
